The Great Escape : Borussia Dortmund survive late onslaught by Real Madrid to reach the Finals of Champions League

Borussia Dortmund reached the finals of Champions League by the skin of their teeth when they managed to win on aggregate by one goal after they had got a 3 goals lead from home to Santiago Bernabau.
It finished 4-3 in favor of Dormund who conceded 2 goals in the last 10 mins to almost snatch defeat from the hand of victory.

After conceding a away goal Dortmund started the game cautiously whereas Real Madrid were on the attack from the first whistle. It almost paid off inside two minute when Higuain was through on goal but denied by the goalkeeper. Another 2 chances fell to Real inside the first 15 minutes when Ronaldo could not beat the goalkeeper and Ozil fired wide.

It could have been 3-0 inside 15 minute and Madrid going through on away goals with aggregate 4-4. But Madrid were wasteful in front of goal so were Dortmund.
Lewandowski hit the post and Gudogen had the chance of the match saved by the Madrid goalkeeper.

Dortmund created the better changes after the initial threat by Mardrid. Mario Gotze injury after 14 minutes did not help as he was substituted.
Sergio Ramos did a Pepe by playing aggressively and it looked like he had elbowed the Dortmund forward Lewandowski on at least 3 occasions. He was lucky to get away without any cards.

But after consistent pressure by Real Madrid and substitutions with Bezema and Kaka on Real did score. Some good passing freed Ozil and he put in a low crossed and Bezema scored and it looked like Dortmunds Night was going to turn into a nightmare as the goalkeeper did not let go of the ball after the goal was scored and was rightly booked.
Then some good pressure resulted in a pass by Bezema who found Ramos and he sublimely scored and the game was on.Real Madrid needed just another goal to clinch the tie and break their jinx of missing out on the same stage for the past 2 years.

Dortmund could have put the tie to bed but they did manage to hold on the same scoreline till the final whistle to knock Real Mardid out of the competition at the same stage for 3 years running.
Joy for Dortmund as they have reached the final of a major European competition after a long time now.
This might be the end of Jose Mourinho's time at Real Madrid but its a great step forward for German football and Borussia Dortmund
