Manchester City being involved in all the competitions this season they had 3 games in hand over the other top teams going into the final few round of games for the EPL. They won the League cup and lost in the later stages of the FA cup. After loosing the big six pointer against Liverpool they had to win all the remaining games to win the league which looked unlikely as Liverpool were on a roll and had a good momentum and it was in Liverpools own hands.
But Liverpool did get outsmarted by "The Happy One" ie Jose Mourinho who was called "The Special One" before and since then Liverpool could not hold their nerves as they lost points until the final day of the league.
They were a team who lost their mojo as their captain Steven Gerrard's slip cost them the title.
They looked more vulnerable and the other teams got the confidence to hold Liverpool from playing their free flowing game that they did so well since the start of the year.
Liverpool were a team who scored early goals and killed of the game inside the first 20 to 30 mins.
So Liverpool could not open up the tight defenses of the opponents and they had no Plan B.
They relied on the pace of the front players who seemed to have to way to go as the teams were setting way behind and defending deep in their own half.
It looked like Manchester City would have won the league comfortably after having the best start to the league campaign, scoring goals for fun. But they slowed down afters and Arsenal picked up their game with the signing of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey scoring goals as if he was a goal scoring machine. Arsenal were top of the league for most of the first half of the season. Chelsea were just hanging in there winning games but not being convincing under the returning manager Jose Mourinho. Chelsea were not good enough as they did not have proper strikers and the front line was changed every time. Injury to Hazard was another reason Chelsea did not last till the end to fight for the league.
Manchester City scored a lot of goals with Yaya Toure scoring 20 goals and Aguero and Dzeko contributing in double figures. Their defense was good with Joe Hart the goalkeeper doing a fine job after having a shaky start to the season. The captain Vincent Kompany was a strong presence and rallied the team to the league title. The manager Manuel Pelegrini also needs a to get credit for the title, his first season in in charge in England and he won the EPL.

Yaya Toure was their best player for the season, Kun Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko did help Yaya to carry the goal scoring task. David Silva was the creative spark with Fernandinho playing along side Javi Garcia. Zabaleta was again the best right back this season with the shaky Demichilis doing his duty later on in the season. Joe Hart was good in between the sticks. Manchester City did win the Manchester rivalry with Manchester United struggling under David Moyes and finishing way below at the 7th place behind Everton and Spurs.
