Gareth Bale has bagged the PFA player of the year plus the Young player of the year. The feat has only been managed by two other players : Andy Gray in 1976-77 and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2007.
Gareth Bale defeated the favorites Robin Van Persie and Luis Suarez. Suarez must have lost the PFA award after his biting incident against Chelsea. Gareth Bale must have won the PFA as he has been more consistent than Van Persie, Van Persie went on a 12 game run where he did not score.
Bale has scored 19 goals in 29 league appearances whereas Pobin Van Persie has 25 and Luis Suarez has 23 who will not play anymore games this season after his 10 match ban.
Bale must have won the award as he has single hand-idly carried Tottenham Hotspurs this season with his goals. Tottenham Hotspurs lost in the Quarterfinals against Basel in the Europa League where Bale was missing for the second leg, he has also kept his team in contention for Champions League next season.
While Robin Van Persie has more goals and won the league for Manchester United, but it must have gone against him as second placed Manchester City are 13 points behind and not other silverware this season for the team who has been at the top of the league and other competitions for sometime now.
Its a big achievement if Tottenham Hotspurs qualify for Champions League next season.
I guess the dry spell for Van persie also did not help, with united crashing out of all the other competitions on or before the quarterfinals stages.
And also as Gareth Bale is a British player as he plays for Wales.
